Holgi Star came to Berlin in year ’89 – probably the best timing for experiencing and participating the high rise of Berlin Techno from every angle.
First landmark is Frontpage magazine, at that time the by far most influential print medium in the scene.
Shortly after the launch of Timing Records in the mid-nineties, consolidating his role as breakbeat pioneer, Holgi Star found his role as a DJ, now playing straight 4/4 techno.
Nowadays Holgi Star is known as the heart and soul behind the Berlin labels Kiddaz.fm, Style Rockets, Rompecabeza, Micro.fon and Hula Hoop.
His debut album “Star Wars” in 2003 hit the charts around the globe like a bombshell.
Japanese clubbers even resorted to downloading the album title track thousands of times as ringtone on their mobile phones.
With a 15-city club tour around Brazil, Holgi Star also established a wide spread reputation around South America.
But in spite of all the touring, he would never neglect his studio passion: Die Ärzte may be just as happy about a Holgi Star Remix as Kaiserdisco or Harry Axt aka Daniel Steinberg whom he discovered and promoted on his labels Kiddaz.fm and Rompecabeza.
Productionwise, Holgi Star hence draws from the vast array of the last 20 years.
After numerous solo productions he published alongside DJ Emerson, Dave Shokh, Tony Rohr, Holger Flinsch begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting, Pierre Deutschmann and Daniel Steinberg, he’s now finalizing the new Kiddaz.FM releases and remixes – while supplying the demanding crowds in and around Berlin with his distinctively intense and straight forward techno sets.
