INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS COUNT
What does 2014 hold for you and your musical pursuits? Are there any big plans or is it business as usual?
No it’s not business as usual, but aslo I don’t make big plans yet, most of the time i make music from my own mind with a special inspiration or feeling, I will do a 2nd Guest mix for Carl Cox‘s Global Radio soon and my 3rd EP on Intec Digital is out in July and 2 other releases coming soon on Stereo Productions and KMS Records, label of Kevin Saunderson. lets see whats next 🙂
Since when are you involved in electronic music and when was the point of breakthrough which let you become professional?
Well conscious i began around 1993 with Technotronic n stuff, it was dance music with rap and vocals inside and they had remix Albums already on Music cassette, including Todd Terry ; Junior Vasquez remixes etc. and i was more and more intersited in House & Techno Music from America and Uk.
around 96 i bought first LP’s from bigger Underground Artists like Prodigy, Armand Van Helden and also from Carl Cox, Carl is a big reason WHY..i love electronic artists with a story behind.
I learned from many records i bought and the Masters on it, about all the details in a track how it works and i was always diggin deep as producer and DJ, till i became professional today.
You release on famous labels like Intec from Carl Cox or Stereo Productions how is your relationship to the lable owner´s? Is your releationship rather based on a business level or do you also have personal contact to the other artists?”
On Intec and Stereo its very familiar, i produce tracks to make people happy, not thinking too much of business, and the people know this. i think its also important to do the right business at the right time, because everybody needs money to life. but when i went first time to space ibiza to meet Carl Cox and the Intec Crew i was very positive excited, they are all very funny and down to earth guy’s…
What’s your favorite producing tool and do you also use hardware for your productions?
I use Live 8 and Logic x, no hardware. i love the classic minimoog as software. but i love also many record samples.
Do current, contemporary sounds and styles influence you in the studio? Or would you describe it as a timeless working environment?
Most of the time i’m influenced from many different artists and music, i love to sample sounds from the past, but its imortant for me to create your own new mark in it.
How do you spend your time between your gigs when you Travel?
Listen new promos, sleeping and swimming 🙂
Do you have a particular gig in the winter season you are looking forward to?
