INTERVIEW WITH MAGIT CACOON
Viva la Electronica Magazine presents a exclusive and fresh Interview with the fabulous Upon You Djane and first rate producer Magit Cacoon from Berlin, Germany!
“Hey Magit thank you for taking your time to give Viva la Electronica this interview.”
“You are from Berlin and you’re touring alot in Germany . What do you think is the diffrence between the Berlin and the rest of Germany’s Clubscene?”
Originally I’m coming from Tel Aviv but true I’m living in Berlin since 5 years. It’s pretty hard to say the difference, I’m mean Berlin is a major source of inspiration, especially in the club scene, but I think that the main difference could be the fact that in Germany I will probably will play more techno then in Berlin.
“What is your favorite Club you have played?”
“What do you think about Upon You ? Is your relationship to Upon You rather based on a buisness level or do you also have personal contact to the other artists?”
Upon. You is my home label and my friends. Yes I have a personal relationship to the boys, I think that it’s great to find someone that shares the same enthusiasm as I do and to find them by the hundreds each weekend is something really special for me and makes me feel lucky.
“What is the next project you have in the pipeline and will be working on? Did you run also a own label or stuff like that?”
I’m just about to finish a mega bomb EP that will come out on Upon. You Records. Beside that I’m running my own label called Girl Scout, the next EP on my label will come in the next year and it’s gonna be my original track with a package of remixes. So far I released on Girl Scout original tracks and remixes from artist as, PToile, Astronivo, &Me, Nico Purmann, Tigerskin, Fiakun Team, Oliver Deutschmann, Alland Byallo myself and more..
“When did you first get in touch with electronic music and when did you decide to become a dj and producer?”
I was always contacted to music since I remember my self, my dad was educator me for music and always feed me with so much kinds of music.. and then i think 9 years ago in Tel Aviv i realized it was strong then me and I start to play at home and then step by step I get in to producing..
“Are you getting inspired by other music, for example classic or soul music for the productions? Do you like to sample or rip off some older material?”
Inspiration lays behind so much kinds of music for me. One of my projects from last year was actually a package of remixes to the UK band Porcupine Tree, it’s psychedelic rock band and I’m a big fan of them. I was remixes the Voyage 34 song the original record was released in 1992.
“What’s your favourite producing tool and do you also use hardware for your productions?”
I use Ableton Live as my sequencer, I use a lot of plugins too many to mention but a few that I really love and use a lot are Kontakt, Omnisphere and Eastwest’s Symphonic Orchestra.
“Do you have a particular gig in the winter season you are looking forward to?”
Yes I’m looking forward to our Upon. You label night at Hive club in Zurich at December! I just love this club.
