INTERVIEW WITH SIERRA SAM
Viva la Electronica Magazine is happy to presents one of the rarest Interview with the Upon You artist Sierra Sam.
“Hey Sierra Sam thank you for taking your time to give Viva la Electronica an interview.”
I´am not touring so much in germany , but i think the people know about music . it makes sense as germany has media about electronic music and a long history with it.
“What is your favorite Club you have played?”
It is hard to chose one, i really like Watergate and Panorama Bar, but bob beaman, Rote Sonne, Goethe Bunker, Wood , …. are also amazing.
“What do you think about Upon You ?
Is your releationship to Upon You rather based on a buisness level or do you also have personal contact to the other artists?”
Who is Upon You ? I dont see this relationship business based at all, we are a group of friends first.
“What do you think about the label Boss Marco Resmann?”
Marco who ? He is talented, humble, nice , positive, good studio neighbor who always has the tools i need (i think i still have his screwdriver but dont tell him) and i also think he should finally finish his first album.
“What is the next project you have in the pipeline and will be working on? Did you run also a own label or stuff like that?”
I run labels but not my own (i do label management), i still have Toys for Boys with my old friend Marcus Vector. As far as musi, i am still fighting to get my new live set together and working on new music. A few cool collaborations in the pipeline as well.
“Which artist would you like to remix in the future?”
I am a fan of a lot of artists, but if i like a track i think it shouldnt get remixed because it is perfect how it is. I d like to remix any UY artist,. they are all great .
“When did you first get in touch with electronic music and when did you decide to become a dj and producer?”
I am not really deejaying (i do sometimes but it is not my main thing) i started in 1994 i think, it was obviously thru samplers etc, i didnt really decide, i liked the first detroit music, went to parties and happened to have some electronic gear so i started using it.
“Are you getting inspired by other music, for example classic or soul music for the productions of Sierra Sam? Do you like to sample or rip off some older material?”
I like tons of music, and i never really sample anything, or extremely rarely.
“What’s your favourite producing tool and do you also use hardware for your productions?”
“Do you have a particular gig in the winter season you are looking forward to?”
Not really , they are all cool and i never know what to expect anyway.
“You are touring around a lot. What is your recipe to stay well and healthy ?”
Sleep enough and not drink too much.
“Which is your favorite tune in the last month you always play at your gigs?”
As i said , i rarely deejay but i am totally into Jacob Korn , KiNK , FCL , San Soda …
